NUTRITIONAL

THERAPY

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY IS A COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY THAT CAN BE AN ALTERNATIVE TO OR USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH TRADITIONAL HEALTHCARE

IN HOW OUR BODIES INTERACT WITH FOODS, STRESS, EXERCISE AND DISEASE.

Nutritional therapy is evidence-informed which means that any recommendations made are done so based on safe and proven scientific research.

Modern medicine has given us a lot to be thankful for, the advent of different drugs has saved millions of lives but it is not good at curing chronic disease.

WE ARE ALL UNIQUE

Chronic diseases are illnesses that require ongoing medical attention (over 1 year) and that limit what we can achieve on a daily basis, hugely reducing our quality of life. The drugs that we are all grateful for can alleviate symptoms but often come with a whole heap of unwanted side-effects that you end up treating with more medication. This is something that I see on a regular basis when clients are prescribed with antibiotics or the oral contraceptive pill for their acne. The acne clears up while they are taking the medication but as soon as they stop, it comes back with a vengeance. They have merely acted as a band aid but the root cause of why the acne is there hasn't been addressed so it comes back time and time again.

Nutritional therapists are trained in anatomy, the physiology of health (how the body should be working) and pathophysiology (when normal bodily processes aren’t working as they should due to disease and illness).

RARELY DO MODERN DRUGS ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSE... THIS IS WHERE NUTRITIONAL THERAPY STEPS IN.

DISEASE OCCURS DUE TO IMBALANCES WITHIN THE BODY, SO BY LOOKING AT THE BODY AS A WHOLE AND THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT SYSTEMS WITHIN THE BODY, WE ARE ABLE TO GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHERE THE IMBALANCES ARE OCCURRING AND WHAT THE ROOT CAUSE MAY BE

ROOT CAUSES

There may indeed be several root causes when it comes to acne (imbalance in the gut, hormonal imbalance, poor detoxification). Nutritional therapists can identify the root cause because we have the time to do it (GP appointments are limited to 10 minutes!) and because we have the skill to do this - it is how we have been trained. Genes in our DNA can pre-dispose us to chronic illnesses such as acne but the good news is that we can often influence the likelihood of them manifesting themselves by making changes to our diet and lifestyle.

NUTRITIONAL THERAPISTS PROMOTE HEALTH THROUGH PERSONALISED NUTRITION, LIFESTYLE, NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION AND FUNCTIONAL TESTING RECOMMENDATIONS

This means that any recommendations that I make are focused on you as an individual. What is right for one person is not necessarily right for another even if they are experiencing similar symptoms. If the root cause of the symptom is different, the recommendation needs to be different. I am here to help you eat the right foods for you. Nutritional therapists do not diagnose or treat disease nor do we advise against taking medication that has been prescribed to you by your GP.
